Co-winner of the 2025 Sonus Chamber Choir “Voices of the Prairie” composition competition

In this poem, the poet Jessamine Slaughter Burgum personifies the prairie wind and a field of wheat as two partners in a dance. The music has contrasting sections for each of them. The sopranos and altos get to imitate the ever-flowing, whistling, unpredictable wind.

I will release this for sale after its premiere in April 2026.
